The image that changed everything...

Happy Friday
Sometimes, the smallest details tell the biggest stories.
Recently, Claire Peet told me how a single website image - six men in black ties shaking hands - led her to immediately decline a promising leadership opportunity.
"That one image told me everything I needed to know about the school's culture," she explained.
One image.
One split-second decision.
One lost opportunity for the school.
But this isn't just about images or websites.
It's about how our small, often unconscious choices shape leadership cultures in ways we might not realise.
Consider this:
• A girls' football team wins the league, but the boys' team photo leads the announcement
• A meeting structure that inadvertently favours certain communication styles
• Leadership development programs designed around a single model of success
The good news?
These small choices are also our greatest opportunity for transformation.
Three Steps You Can Take Today:
Audit Your Visuals
Review your website, social media, and marketing materials
Look at who is represented and how
Notice which stories get amplified and which don't
Examine Your Communications
Are your leadership communications welcoming different styles?
Do you offer multiple pathways for engagement?
How many ways can people contribute their voices?
Question Your Defaults
What "standard practices" might be limiting potential?
Where could you create alternative approaches?
Which voices might be inadvertently silenced?
The path to better leadership doesn't always require grand transformations.
Often, it's about paying attention to these small moments where we can make different choices.
What small choice will you make differently today?
