Are You Stuck in an Echo Chamber?

Happy Friday

I was sitting in a meeting last week in London when it hit me - how, as educators, we often find ourselves stuck in an echo chamber.

Where the same ideas keep bouncing around your school walls, and you solve identical problems with identical solutions.

It's funny - we're great at talking about stepping away from school for wellbeing.

Exercise.

Family time.

The usual stuff.

But what if we need to step out not to switch off but to switch on differently?

This newsletter is supported by The University of Warwick’s Centre for Teacher Development.

Working in London this week showed me something powerful.

Being simultaneously challenged and supported by colleagues outside my usual space opened my mind in ways that just wouldn't happen within my familiar four walls.

Here's what I'm wondering: When was the last time your thinking was genuinely challenged?

When did you last feel that surge of energy from a completely fresh perspective?

Next week, I'll share the specific strategies that have worked for me and other education leaders.

But for now, I'd love to hear about your experience with professional echo chambers.

Just hit reply and let me know - what makes your school feel stale?

Have a great weekend,

Shane
